enter the dogs

Welcome to Restaurant dogs.

When you go out to have a meal, what do stars mean? how can you tell a good pizza from a wet miserable mess? I suppose you can juggle stars and value for money rating. Or maybe a rating out of 10? Forget it... too hard. Enter the dogs.

Dogs are a universal scale for judging a restaurant. Not against some 5 star platonic ideal, but against your expectations. This is how it works.

You go to a restaurant, and you have a pretty good idea of what you think should be the service, if it were to deliver what it claims on the tin. Every time that expectation is not met, you award dogs. The great part is you can give more than one dog and there is no maximum number of dogs.

So if a restaurant does what it does well, be that a pizza or a six hour degustation menu, without putting a foot wrong, it would get no dogs. That does not happen often.

We are based in Toronto (for now) and will be reviewing the places we eat here. By the end of our twelve months there should be a reasonable collection of reviews, and you will know if you agree with us or not.
